Pickled Red Onions



Have you ever made homemade pickled red onions before?! 🧅😍 This recipe is so so easy🙌🏼


Pickled red onions add the PERFECT tangy, crunchy, slightly sweet pop to any meal. They are great as a meal addition, side, or on their own!


All you need is a few simple ingredients, about 5 minutes of prep time, plus another hour to let the red onions soak in the marinade.. then this delicious batch of pickled red onions can be yours to enjoy immediately!


We love adding them to salads, burgers, wraps, Mexican dishes, grain bowls… the possibilities are endless😀



 

Pickled Red Onions

Prep Time: 5 minutes Store time: 1 hour


Ingredients:

  • 2 red onions, very thinly sliced (or enough to stuff a large 24 oz mason jar)

  • 1 cup white vinegar

  • 1 cup water

  • 2 tbsp minced garlic

  • 1 tbsp Italian season

  • 1 tbsp crushed red pepper - optional

  • 1-2 tbsp agave

  • 1 tbsp salt

Instructions:

  1. Stuff your sliced onions in a 24 oz mason jar.

  2. Add the vinegar, water, and all other ingredients in a pot and stir together.

  3. Cook over medium-high heat covered until the mixture reaches a simmer.

  4. Turn off the heat, and then pour the hot liquid over the onions (you may need to press down the onions with a spoon so they are completely submerged).

  5. Screw on the lid and shake.

  6. Store in the fridge for about an hour before eating!
